There are different kinds of wig caps out there and knowing the right one to use can be a little daunting especially if you are a beginner at wig making. I put together a few wig caps that are common and available in Nigeria.
- STOCKING CAP
The stocking cap is very common and cheap. It is used for quick weave wigs, quick weave wigs are done using bonding glue. Wigs made with a stocking cap won’t last long because the material is fragile and it tears easily. A stocking cap costs 100 naira for a 2 in 1 pack .
- WEAVING NET
Great for making crochet wigs and it’s also very affordable, a piece cost 100 naira. The holes allows for even ventilation of air to the scalp which is perfect for Nigerian weather. You have to be careful when using it because the net is fragile, the holes can be broken if you are not careful.
- DOME CAP
The spandex dome cap is perfect for any kind of wig. It can be used for braid wigs, crochet wigs and sew ins. The dome cap is a bit expensive but a good investment because it’s very durable, wigs made with a dome cap lasts a long time. The only disadvantage being that it leaves no room for even ventilation of air.
- CORNROW WIG CAP
The corn row wig cap can be used for sew ins but it’s popularly used for crochet wigs. It’s a better option to using the weaving net for crochet wigs especially if you are making the wig for sale.
- U PART WIG CAP
The U-part wig cap is used for wigs that require you to leave out a portion of your hair for a more realistic look.
- REGULAR ADJUSTABLE WIG CAP
This is the most common wig cap used by professionals, it is used mostly for sew ins, it can also be used to make a braid wig.
