I have always wanted to have my own clip in hair extensions. Before making my clip in hair extensions I watched a lot of YouTube videos and I see how easy it is to the clips attach onto the hair in little or no time. So I decided to make my own clip-ins as I couldn’t find an affordable one to buy (probably because of the quality of hair used ).

My clips ins were made with cheap and affordable synthetic hair. I used darling afro kinky hair. I bought a pack which cost one thousand two hundred naira (1200).

To make clip-in extensions you need

  • Hair extensions ( I used darling afro kinky )
  • Scissors
  • Needle and thread

STEP 1 clip in hair extensions tutorial Fold or double the hair weft and sew it down, do this for all the bundles. Folding the weft in two gives added volume so you don’t have a lot of clip-ins in your hair

STEP 2 Clip in hair extensions tutorial: Start by cutting and prepping the hair according to the width of your head from side to side. To do this start by measuring the nape of your head from left to right, keep repeating the steps till you get to the top of your head.

STEP 3 Clip in hair extensions tutorial: Sew the clips on to the weft of the extension. Make sure the clips are snapped open so that you don’t make a mistake by sewing the clips in the wrong direction.

STEP 4 Clip in hair extensions tutorial: There are two tiny dot-like holes at the left and right of each clip, start by passing and securing the thread through both holes at the left, pass the thread through the lines on the clip and knot the thread through both holes at the right.
